Everybody knows that waffles are the bread and butter of a good breakfast. Which is why just the thought of starting a diet scared the hell out of me. I just couldn’t imagine myself eating a bland bowl of oats every morning instead of having a plate full of crispy waffles covered in chocolate or honey. Luckily for me, I discovered that not all diet food has to be tasteless. For example, Nutrisystem has a soft pretzel that any dieter would enjoy eating! And after spending some time looking for healthy alternatives, I decided to give Nutrisystem Buttermilk Waffles a try. This is what I found out.
THEY GIVE ME ALL THE ENERGY I NEED TO START MY MORNING
Nutrisystem Buttermilk Waffles are made of natural ingredients, such as whole wheat flour, buttermilk, whole eggs, soy, and whey, which gives me all the energy I need to start my morning. However, despite their sweetness, these Buttermilk Waffles are Diabetes-friendly and don’t interfere with my weight loss journey.
With only 160 calories and 27 grams of carbs per waffle, I can get a full meal without feeling like I’m overeating. The high fiber content also makes them easy to digest, so I don’t feel bloated after eating breakfast anymore. Plus, its low fat count (only 4 grams) means that I can please my sweet tooth without dreading my weighing scale.
THEY ARE EASY TO PREPARE AND SERVE
Nutrisystem Buttermilk Waffles can be heated in an oven, toaster, toaster oven, and even microwaved if one is in a hurry. When I can, I prefer using the toaster oven, but if I’m in a hurry it’s really easy to save some time with the microwave. One thing to note is that the waffles must be prepared in a frozen state. Which is great because they can last months in the freezer and I can still prepare a hot plate of waffles in just a few minutes whenever I’m hungry.
I also love how using a toaster makes them extra crispier, which can’t be said of the microwave. But it is important to keep a watch on the timer. Too much time tends to make them soft, but if I don’t put enough time they don’t stay warm long enough. However, regardless of how they are heated, there is no doubt that these small waffles can fill up an empty stomach really fast!
THEY GO WELL WITH ANY KIND OF TOPPING
What I like the most of these waffles is how well its buttermilk flavor combines with a variety of toppings. Using a bit of vanilla can really add some sweet to its flavor, but it tastes even better when it’s mixed with sugar-free syrup or some jam. Another great combination I like to use is to top it with some sliced strawberry. Besides providing a different flavor, eating natural sugars is a healthier alternative to syrups.
In the end, I found Nutrisystem Buttermilk Waffles to be an excellent alternative to traditional waffles and pancakes. Not only has their low-calorie count helped me to keep my weight in check, but its delicious flavor gives me a great reason to get up early every day!
